Last February I posted some marketing questions about a project I have been fussing with. The questions dealt with coupons in the boxes of items you order. Over 40 of you answered these questions, and I thought you might like to know the result.
There was a split between those who want coupons and those who hate to see all that paper go to waste (of course, one person can desire both). Also, of course, if you are a reader of my blog, you are likely so far into the blue that you couldn’t find red if you tried. And that’s a built-in bias since liberals appear to care more about stuff like the environment.
Anyway, my client was intrigued by your advice. They decided to try a year without coupons in their cartons … all of 2009. Instead, on the back of a document that has to go in the carton anyway (gents, I know you can’t read instructions, but ladies can), they printed website addresses of three sponsors who also like the “save paper” idea. They will be offering specials on their products online. Only people who want them will print them. Win, win, win.
So millions of bits of paper avoided. And you forty did it. Now don’t you feel as warm and mushy and green as a bowl of peas? A round of Cumbaya anyone? Along with heartfelt thanks from the back nine.
