Short Game 19

Thank you, thank you (it’s more meaningful if you say it twice) for your comments on my marketing questions. Very interesting and very helpful. I’ll let you know about results.

When I was a kid, my mom wore things like dusters and housedresses and wrap around skirts. Yuck, I thought as I grew up. But now … what has become of the robes of my youth? Full length, maybe ¾ length sleeves, seersucker or terry or chenille. Sis finally found the perfect one on eBay. It is dubbed Retro and the seller has the absolute gall to call herself GrammaHadThat. So what the hell do you young women wear in the morning standing outside waiting for the dogs to crap? Before the coffee has been made and you first check your email?

Old ads emailed by the Mister. And, no, we’re not ancient enough to have actually written them … but certainly advertising was easier before the government got involved. Now excuse me, I need to go douche with the Lysol.

Cute PJ bottoms with a t-shirt or top of some sort. You can still wear your robe open over it… to hide the saggy tata’s, you know!

I just push the dog outside and wait patiently for her to return.

When I get up in the middle of the night to give the baby a bottle. I just wear my pj pants and t-shirt or fleece. I have to have slip-on slippers (Old Friend brand is the best). I did find a cute pattern for a kimono style short robe that I plan on making…but it may turn more into a wear during the day type thing than a robe type thing.

Flannel sleep pants and a warm sweatshirt while waiting on the dog. Can’t beat ‘em. Warm, cozy, comfy….what more do you want? As to the robes et al of yesteryear, my Mom is constantly looking for such items and I help her find them in catalogs or online, frequently on eBay. Those kinds of items just aren’t available in the stores anymore. God bless the Internet. You can find anything now if you just have patience.

Douching with Lysol? Good God! That’s just wrong, did anyone actually do that?
I’m all about the flannel pants, I buy them in the guys section. But what’s with all these girls wearing them to the store, with their slippers?
I wish I could find a chenille robe that was long enough, I seem to be too tall, and I also can’t seem to find any slippers that don’t fall off.
I’m just cranky today, don’t mind me.

I wear flannel pj bottoms, a short sleeve sleep shirt and a hooded sweatshirt over that when I am cold. Yep, the days of dusters and house dresses are long gone to the same place where douching with Lysol went, hopefully!!

Like the others, I’m into the sleeping pants and soft t-shirts (I found all colors of long sleeve, stretchy, comfy t-shirts at Wal-Mart the other day) but I also wear pajamas and robes. I feel your pain. It is VERY hard to find cute, comfortable robes anymore. I used to love the velour Vanity Fair long ones that zip up the front, but you can only find them at Goodwill or Ebay anymore. I would LOVE some cute summer ones. We are NOT that old!!

Another vote for the sleeping pants – get black ones so you can pretend they don’t look like you’re wearing your PJs outside. Mine are lightweight fleece, ahhhhh. Soft and warm. Buy in the men’s sleepwear dept at JC Penney. And T-shirt with fleece vest over the top. – throw on the vest when you get up.

The Lysol douching sounds bad enough, but lack of said douching was causing the husband to distance himself from the wife because … ??? …. OK I guess I don’t want to know.

The lysol thing killed me. Very funny.
The ciggy ad wasn’t too bad either.
Let us know if the Lysol has improved your “freshness” level . . . :o )

    Hey guys,
Anyone who wants these robes and other things from “by-gone” days should look at the catalog from the Vermont Country Store. They’re all in there. But I too prefer flannel pants and sweatshirts, soft and comfy.

I suddenly have this image. Hundreds of women in jammi bottoms. Hmmmm.

Haha, the Mister’s comment makes me wonder if I should also post that I’m a fan of cute flannel PJ bottoms (I go for pink), a cami and a sweater if needed.
