On the road again

I haven’t posted lately because I’ve been working, and I can’t concentrate on more than one thing at a time. Yes, I’ve been able to convince someone to actually pay me.

My client Char-Broil makes all manner of machines you can sizzle your meat on. Toyota noticed that fire is beloved by the same caveman mentality that gets off on big trucks. And where is heaven on earth for men who love to burn and haul? Home Depot, of course!

So Char-Broil and Toyota are getting together to visit Home Depot stores all over the country (except here in Dog Patch where we don’t have a Depot … we have Swain’s for everything from lathes to prom dresses. And don’t forget Hi Caliber Guns and Espresso).

All spring and summer this road tour will set up at Depot stores for a day. If you buy a new infrared Char-Broil grill that day, you can have it delivered home for free … anyone who has ever tried to wedge a grill into a car trunk will recognize this as a very good deal for your back and knees. You can also test drive a Toyota Tundra which, I am told, can haul something the size of Texas. You will be given trinkets and treated like kings for a day. Or queens, as the case may be.

Anyway, I was in LA for the training of the new crew and first road show of the season. Here are some pix:

Barry & Crew
The guy in blue is CB, the Char-Broil chef. Grilled foods make you grow tall. The people in the tan shirts are the new crew that will accost you to either drive or cook. The guy in black? None of us know who he is.

Secret Ingredient
CB’s secret ingredient? Beer, of course.

Truck choice
Come on, get in. Drive a truck. Feel like a bad ass. You know you want to.

Logos
FIVE logos all in one shot! Am I an ad whiz or what?

Anyway, RED, the new infrared grill, really is amazing. No kidding: awesome dudes. And this is how I spent my weekend on the back nine. How about yours?

Those trucks are so bad-ass. If it didn’t cost my life savings to fill the gas tank, I might want one. You really have been keeping busy!

What’s with Swain’s, no booze? And the logos need to be bigger.

Oooooh. Trucks, BBQ’s & Home Depot that sounds almost as fun as the Car Show I am going to today at the XXX drive-in in Issaquah. It’s an all Italian car show. So, I get to strap my children down so they don’t scratch the Ferarri’s and Lamborghini’s. This is my husband’s idea of a fun family day. :)

Don’t know about the grill’s, but Toyota makes some good trucks that go forever. We’ve missed you! And home depot, damn, I could hang out in there forever, between the gardening stuff, and the woodworking stuff.

Michael: All part of the infrared magic. Or else, Chef Barry has us all fooled.

    Glad you’re back!

I and my friends rode our bikes through the tulip fields near La Conner this weekend in the nice (finally) weather. The season is late so there’s still probably a good 2 weeks of tulip viewing, why don’t you go on over?

I have a bunch of tulip photos (as well as goofy photos of my bike-riding friends) on my Flickr page, go here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22156416@N00

And I love Swain’s! I’d trade the Bellingham Home Depot for a Swain’s any day. Hey, when the truck-and-grill-fest comes to Bellingham, are you coming too? If so drop me an email, I’ll come over and buy you a latte from one of our good coffeeshops.

Jennifer: Lovely photos. It has been a couple years since we have been up that way. The Mister and I used to spend a night in the LaConnor Inn right before Christmas … that’s a nice time in the area, too. Always saw eagles and snow geese.
I know I will be at the Home Depot event in Silverdale … and maybe Bellingham. I’ll let you know and take you up on that latte. Decaf. Iced.

    Decaf?? Well, OK.

What kind of milk? Nonfat, 2%, Whole, or Soy?

And let’s hope the weather warms up enough to enjoy an iced latte. I’m still drinking them hot (high of 48 tomorrow, pouring down rain right now. oh boy.)
